Joint association
The umbrella organisation of National Parks Austria combines the many voices of the National Park landscape into a choir: acting in concert through the Management Board, comprised of the directors of the eight Austrian National Park administrations, the non-profit association has promoted the dynamic development of the protected areas and implemented joint projects as well as the well-publicised communication of shared concerns since 2011.
Close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility and Technology (BMK) gives the common voice an additional boost.
Support is also provided by the National Park Advisory Board, made up of representatives of regional states and NGOs, which constitutes a consultative and evaluative body.

Our duties and responsibilities
The responsibilities of National Parks Austria are closely associated with the objectives and obligations of the domestic National Parks. Accelerating research cooperation, strengthening environmental education and public relations activities to serve the idea of the national park – in accordance with the requirements of the Austrian National Park Strategy form the focal points of the association’s activities.
