Media Scholarship 2019
Talents from the fields of film, photography or literature who were motivated to explore one of the six Austrian national parks on their own were sought. From May to December 2019, the media fellows spent two weeks in one of the six Austrian national parks and let nature inspire them.
The results can now be seen. Literary works, photo series and videos were created, providing insights into very personal experiences of nature.

The graphic artist, who works in the area of pre-university promotion of young talent at the University of Applied Arts, had the goal of capturing the tension between heaven and earth and between transcendent and earthly reality. In the Hohe Tauern National Park she was able to take DSLR photographs and later process them into postcards.
Laura Ecker
The freelance artist and teacher has a passion for capturing the world in the form of images, whether in the form of drawings or through photography. "Naturally Creative" was her project idea, as creativity is an essential part of our lives. She has compiled the most beautiful pictures of her stay in the Hohe Tauern National Park in a portfolio.

The South Tyrolean is an amateur photographer, student and always looking for THE photo. During his media fellowship in the Hohe Tauern National Park, capturing the magical morning and evening moods between night and day and day and night was one of his goals. Photographing at night was especially important to him.
Agnieszka Kulowska
A native of Poland and an orchestral musician, with a preference for images that provoke thought. In addition to acknowledging the beauty of nature or landscape, she is particularly attracted to breaking the subject of the image through a formally unusual and abstract representation. Thus, during her stay in the National Park Thayatal two photo series were created, which allow a deep insight into the beauty of nature.
Romana Roth
The master student of the study of wildlife management represents the conviction "Only what we know, understand and what moves us we protect." In the course of the media fellowship in the Neusiedlersee - Seewinkel National Park, she developed a book of poems for children aged 6-12. This is intended to create different aspects, perspectives and approaches to nature.
Marco Pühringer
During his stay in the Kalkalpen National Park, the freelance journalist and communication science student wanted to write texts about topics that are of long-term importance. He wrote four portraits that focus on both landscape and the people who live in it. Because according to him, one is not comprehensible without the other.

To immerse themselves completely in nature - to grasp the complex nature of a national park and its sensitive ecosystem - this is what the two media fellows hoped to gain during their stay in the Donau-Auen National Park. Together they created a journey through the floodplain, during which stories are told, sounds can be heard and impressive images can be seen.

Ariane Wrumnig
The student of the master's program Wildlife Ecology and Wildlife Management was motivated to go out into nature, to get inspired and to be able to write about it isolated from external influences. At first she didn't know what to write about in the Gesäuse National Park, until she gradually began to find something she wasn't actually looking for. She tells about this in "Der Berg in meinem Kopf".
Lukas Meisinger
As a geographer, he deals a lot with sustainability and human-environment relations. During the media fellowship, he therefore wanted to capture how people interact with their environment. In his video, he captured contrasts in the Kalkalpen National Park to illustrate its diversity.
Tara Dirala
The sound artist, who comes from Hamburg, worked with a very sensitive recorder during her stay in the Donau-Auen National Park. With this she was able to record very quiet sounds of the national park, some of which are too quiet to be perceived by the human ear.
Alexander Beitz
The camera technician had the goal to create a film, through which the fascination of nature should be visually represented. In the National Park Thayatal he was able to give free rein to his creativity and thus created a moving video, through which one gets a deep insight into the forest habitat.
Matthias Ledwinka
The musician and nature photographer tries to capture landscapes as he feels them, as he remembers them, and not necessarily as they looked in reality. "Our memory colors what we have experienced" he wrote when he applied for the media fellowship. In his photo series, his sensations in the Gesäuse National Park have now been depicted.
Sigrid Katletz
For decades, the qualified speech therapist and passionate photographer has been moving around the world through national parks. On these journeys she always found different traces. She also found some of them in the Neusiedlersee - Seewinkel National Park, which is why she partly dealt with the questions "Which traces remain?" and "Which traces disappear?" in her photo series.Nationalpark - fragil [PDF]
