National parks are not just areas where wildlife is protected and visitors can experience adventure, but they can also be important centres for natural and environmental education. High-quality information and visitor centres, exciting excursions and workshops, diverse training and further education offers, as well as numerous school programmes combine encounters with nature and learning experience.
Training Academy
The Austrian national parks have played an important and leading role in national environmental education since their founding - as centers of excellence for nature-based education and as a contributor to trends in environmental education. The National Park Austria Education Academy was founded in 2015 in order to bundle and continuously develop the great expertise of the national parks. The program is as diverse as the national parks themselves this year and is aimed at national park staff, certified national park rangers, educators and adults interested in nature. Exciting lectures, further training and specialist conferences enable in-depth insights into the world of national parks.
Becoming a Ranger
Course as Certified National Park Ranger
With the development of a comprehensive and standard qualification concept, Austria took a leading role in Europe in matters of ranger training in 2011. Successfully completing the basic and advanced module is a precondition for becoming a National Park ranger.
The trainings and courses are mainly held in German.
