"Species Empire Gesäuse": The second volume of National Park writings is here!

21 authors and 100 colorful images bring the treasures and the variety of fauna and flora of the Gesäuse closer.

The GEO Biodiversity Day at the Kölblalm in June 2006 despite the bad weather was a complete success. The approximately 700 species found from the mosses and fungi, on the numerous insects, to birds and bats are the new band of the national park into colorfully illustrated texts presented. 14 comprehensive articles attest to the importance of the Serviced Alpine Pasture for the preservation of biodiversity.

The main article deals with the alpine flora in Gesäuse. Posted by Univ. Prof. Dr. Josef Greimler, a connoisseur of Gesäuseberge, it sharpens our eyes for the little "Survivor" between rock and stone.

Another editorial on the features of the avifauna of Gesäuse of the National Parks of the zoologist Dr. Lisbeth Zechner gives us an insight into the exploration of our "feathered friends".

A new world described Steinfliegenart from the Gesäuse by Dr. Wolfram Graf presented and Dr. Andreas Bohner reported on a rare hawkweed on Sulzkaralm.

These Highlights from the flora and fauna of national parks make us even more aware of how important the preservation of "our" Gesäuseberge for future generations as a national park is.
