Panorama Tower at Wurbauerkogel: Fascinating Rock

The new six-level observation tower at Wurbauerkogel offers a 360-degree panorama.  On a day with a good view you can see 21 peaks higher than 2,000 m.

In the “Fascinating Rock“ exhibition, you may learn interesting details, listen to astonishing stories, hear about special features, and get to know record-breaking facts of this extraordinary environment and its inhabitants.  A superb photo gallery presents spectacular pictures of rock formations from all over the world.
 
A short film in the style of the Austrian TV documentary “Universum” shows the breath-taking world of mountains in the national park region Pyhrn-Priel with its natural beauty and local fauna. 
 
On the top level of the tower you will find field scopes and binoculars at your disposal.  From the breezy panorama terrace you will get the best views of the surrounding peaks: Totes Gebirge, Sensengebirge and Haller Mauern mountains seem almost close enough to touch.
For the easiest “way“ up to the 858 m high Wurbauerkogel, you should take the almost nostalgic chair lift.  Hikers follow the many marked paths starting from Windischgarsten and Roßleithen and surmount a height of almost 250 meters. 
You will find comprehensive information about hiking trails at the tower.  Trained national park guides inform the visitors about the most beautiful hiking destinations in the region and the extensive offer of national park events and guided walks.

From Passau: motorway A8 to Voralpenkreuz junction – take motorway A9 direction Graz – exit at Roßleithen – Zentrum Windischgarsten – from there follow the signs
From Linz/Wien:  motorway A1 to Voralpenkreuz junction – take motorway A9 direction Graz – exit at Roßleithen – Zentrum Windischgarsten – from there follow the signs
