School at the Thaya Valley National Park

On a discovery tour through the forests and grasslands of the Thaya Valley National Park, the children will really get in touch with nature.  Equipped with a magnifying glass and a net they investigate freshwater shrimps, caddis worms and other water animals.

They observe the black stork and the green lizard, or simply listen to the songs of the birds and enjoy the beauty of the Thaya Valley.  All this is part of the national park!  There is also enough room for adventures when exploring the legendary rock Regina high above the village of Hardegg or the dungeons at the Kaja ruin.
In the National Park House the exhibition on ”NaturGeschichten – ThayaTales“ invites the visitors to look, listen and touch.  They will hear stories about the creation of the Thaya valley some hundred million years ago, about the growth and the disappearance of a mountain range, about black storks, fire salamanders and their likes as well as about the most diverse plants.
Finally, a trained national park guide transforms the Park House and the surrounding forest into an exciting research centre.  With a geological hammer the children start a time journey into a quarry.  The “earthworm cinema” and a microscope will allow them to trace down even the smallest inhabitants of the national park.
