School at the Danube Floodplain National Park

Experience nature together with friends and discover its small and great wonders for yourself!  Accompanied by national park guides, the pupils get an opportunity to obtain deep insights into the diverse issues of the Danube floodplains in the course of several-day programmes.

Lots of exercise, play and fun are guaranteed when you walk in the floodplain along the river Danube, go on a boat tour or investigate the flooded waters with a landing net and a microscope.  A real floodplain researcher will not miss the opportunity to sleep in a tent. Even at the campfire your creativity is wanted.  A choice of project days (permanent guidance) and – new since mid-July 2005 – summer programmes (partial guidance) is available.
  
A. HALF-DAY AND FULL-DAY EVENTS
 
Target groups: all school levels

Time schedule: Walks all year round, boat excursions from April to October

Financial contribution per pupil:
For the Lower Austrian part of the National Park:
Adventure walk: € 6.50
Danube-boat tour (15 years and above):
5–10 persons at € 18.–, more than 10 persons at € 16.–
Combined boat tour/walk: € 15.–
For the Vienna part: The walks are part of the Environmental Education Programme of the Municipality of Vienna and therefore free of charge.

Time schedule: May to October, 3 days or 5 days
 
Financial contribution per pupil
3 days: € 135.– incl. 2 nights in large-capacity tents, 3 days full board, 3 days guided programme, educational materials, bus transfers during the programme.
Financial contribution per accompanying teacher: € 70.–
Minimum number of participants: 20 pupils
 
5 days: € 195.–, incl. 4 nights in large-capacity tents, 5 days full board, 4 days guided programme, educational materials, bus transfers during the programme.
Financial contribution per accompanying teacher: € 125.–
Minimum number of participants: 20 pupils
